Down Beneath the Cliff (Experimental Game)
The work converts 3D scans of the coast at Dajiao Village, Fuzhou, and captured bodily movement into a continuous virtual simulation. Digital doubles climb, pause, lose balance, fall, and die within parameters for terrain, weather, and tides. Viewers encounter a system already in motion but never fully controllable. By placing technical prediction before bodily experience, the work examines how action, risk, and memory are redistributed once flesh becomes data.
Down Beneath the Cliff (Installation)
A stainless-steel pool ladder hangs on the wall. It keeps the form of an entrance into water but leads nowhere. An artist book shaped like a step compresses the project’s scans, motion-capture data, and simulation archives: before the body departs, technology has already predicted its fall. Ladder and book form an unfinished instrument of passage, bringing the preparatory movement of descending beneath the cliff from the virtual environment into the gallery. The installation fixes the distance among flesh, place of origin, and technical prediction at an entrance with no foothold.
