Part of The Lure

A cluster of small sculptures composed of various marine organisms and materials converges in space to form a perceptual theater where touch and smell intertwine. Glass squids, mimetic fishing lures, and trap lights crawl and entwine upon rock-like synthetic carriers. Some are surprisingly light, while others are unexpectedly heavy, echoing the perception of the ocean—fathomless and impossible to judge by appearance alone. Translucent glass squids emit phosphorescence in the dark, interspersed with images of metallic hook-shaped lures, allowing reality and fiction to coexist on the same surface. These subtle lures are scattered throughout, inviting viewers to navigate through them. The work manifests in a cycle of wetness and dryness, dissolution and reorganization, stillness and flow, where marine life and technology weave a high-tension dynamic network, intertwining flow and control, the human and the non-human.
