‘Perfect’ Orgasmer

"Perfect" Orgasmer is a fictional product: a wearable silicone skin that emits the sound of a "perfect" orgasm, as defined by parts of the sex and pornography industries, when touched. Drawing on psychology and sociology, the work examines performed orgasm and the influence of technology on intimate behavior.

The wearer can interact with others and encounter the subtle emotions behind simulation. The skin acts as disguise and protection, as selfish gesture and altruistic care, as medium and barrier. By tracing links between performed pleasure and the pornography industry, the work asks viewers to distinguish their own sexual experience from a technological image of perfection. Pleasure, rather than performance, remains the basis of sex.
